Video Reflection

With this cool Premiere Pro template project, you can create the popular video reflection look in mere seconds! Literally! You no longer need to build this time consuming effect from scratch. Just import the matching sequence from this template project into your own project, swap the clip in the Source sequence with your own footage, and you’re done. Super easy!

An animated 3D video postcard with reflections with your own footage in a few seconds. All within Premiere Pro. No After Effects needed! And it’s all free!

Free Premiere Pro template project!

Did I mention that it’s all free? Use it wherever you want for whatever you want, but do not redistribute or sell it. Giving credit will increase your karma!

Tweak as you like

Everything is adjustable and tweakable. Want the video to be closer to the virtual camera? Adjust the Distance to Image in the Basic 3D effect. Want another color on the background? Throw a Fast Color Corrector onto the nested BG sequence, and drag the color wheel around.

Several formats supported

This template has ready-to-go sequences for several formats already built-in. And if your format is not included, you can build a custom one in a few minutes by making new sequences in your format, and copying and pasting effects.

Included format at launch: 720p50, 1080p25, 1080p30, 1080p50 and 1080p23.976. If you use another format, and you make a new template in that size and frame rate, then please share it so other people can build on your work! Also, if you use the template in your film, a link to the film would be appreciated! just shoot us an e-mail and let us know.

No real time

This is a fairly complex project, and you should not expect this to play back smoothly without rendering unless you have a high-end system. The Compound Blur effect is not hardware accelerated, so you will get a red render bar even if you own an MPE compatible Nvidia graphics card. But you can still scrub and tweak the settings before you render.

Expect more of the same

This Premiere Pro template project is a sample from the book The Cool Stuff in Premiere Pro. The book will teach you how to make this template and lots of other cool and time saving techniques.

I downloaded the template, but it wants a PNG texture!

    • Maradona, thank you for letting me know! Actually, that texture isn’t used in the project – it is linked to by a title that is not in use. I’ve deleted that title now and updated the file, so please download again, and it should all work fine. Or just delete the title “Über cool 1080p50” in the “Common” bin in your existing project and save. Sorry for the confusion.

I have a gap between the video and the reflection. Is there any way I can close this gap to around 10 pix?

  5. Morten says:

…I cant integrate it into project. Is there a tutorial on YT, for exam?

    • Morten, there are no instructions. Just import the whole project into your existing project, and then swap out the footage. Sorry, I have no video tutorial on this.

        Hey!
Where do I swap the footage? I’m new to premiere and I really need help!
        Thanks!

      • Yomna, when you open the main timeline, it clearly says in bullet points 2 and 3:

        2. Open the source sequence
        3. Drag your own material onto the Bars & Tone clip

This should be pretty much self explanatory?

  6. Morten says:

    okay,thx

    Hello!
I like your template but I didn’t suceed to do it. Please if you want to explain me how to proceed, because I’m beginner in premiere.
    Thank’s a lot!

    • Hi Dany, There is a “users manual” included in the template, telling you how to do it. In short; Alt-drag your clips onto the placeholders (bars & tone) and you’re all set.
