Camera POV templates for DSLR and Video cameras

DSLR Viewfinder POV

DSLR Viewfinder POV template

Here are two simple Camera Point-of-View templates. Both of them free! Use the DSLR one (made by me) to simulate the viewfinder of a DSLR camera. Use the other one (generously contributed by Immanuel Heims) to simulate a Video Camera viewfinder.

User manuals are included in the project files. Both templates are made entirely inside of Premiere Pro CC, and will not work in earlier versions.

The DSLR POV template comes with viewfinder graphics and focusing and shutter sound effects. It is made in 1080p25, but can be used in any project, since graphics have no frame rate.

Video Camera POV

Video Camera Viewfinder template

The Video POV template comes with Timecode counter, Rec indicator and viewfinder frames. It has three timelines with frame rates: 23.976p, 25p and 29.97p

Feel free to tweak these templates to your own liking.

    I have downloaded this template

in the zip file there is only 4 file 2 files of camera pov.prproj

and 2 file are of shutter sound.wav

now how to use this files

when I open this prproj file by double clicking the premier pro open and show me

“this project contained a sequence that could not be opened. no sequence preview preset file or codec be associated with the sequence type.”

what to do sir please help me

    • How to use the Premiere Pro file? Double-click it! 🙂 Easy!

But you already tried that, so… Your problem seems to be that you don’t have the latest version of Premiere Pro CC, or that it’s not properly licensed. Try logging out of Creative Cloud and in again to get the licensing working again.

    Great job !
I have a question: if the background is an white one, how can I change the viewfinders colors ?!? I don’t understand how you made it 🙂

    Thank you !

    • Well, in the “Graphics” bin, there are a few Titles. They’re named things like “Viewfinder Circle”, “Viewfinder Corners”, “Viewfinder Square” etc. It should be pretty much self explanatory. Open the Title in question and change the elements you want to change.

  5. Nice templates, really appreciate you sharing them!!

    Jarle,
I purchased your chapter and couldn’t stop studying it. I was also excited to download the Camera-pov which is EXACTLY what I needed for my current project.
But I have Premiere CS6 and it wont run — says it is damaged. Is there some way to get or make a similar camera-pov? It would be a real problem solver for my current video about shooting animals on the Serengeti plain in Tanzania with DSLR and video.

Thanks for all the good stuff on your site.

    • Hi Roy,
Yes, the project is made in CC, so it will not open in CS6. You could download a free trial of CC, open the project, save as FCP XML, and then import it into CS6. I can’t guarantee you that it will be perfect, but it might be worth a try. You can have both CC and CS6 installed. Once you try CC 2014, you will never want to go back to CS6. 🙂

Hi Jarle, Awesome work on the templates. Cannot seem to get them to work! I updated my CC to 7.2.2 but i keep getting this error.
this project contained a sequence that could not be opened. no sequence preview preset file or codec be associated with the sequence type
    Please Help

Downloaded the camera pov templates. When I try to import to the preset folder they are greyed out and can not import.

    • There are no presets in the download… There are two Premiere Pro project files that you can open by themselves or import in an existing project. There are also two audio files that are needed in one of the projects.
